About the player
Abdallah Gning left Senegal at the start of 2022, swapping Stade Mbour for Czech football and a first contract at FC Sellier & Bellot Vlašim, where he scored twice in 13 league appearances. That was enough to earn him a move to FK Teplice that summer for a fee of around €140,000, and it was there that he settled into Czech football properly, scoring 15 goals in 75 league games across three seasons. A switch to Widzew Łódź was on the table during the 2024/25 season but fell through after a medical issue, and Gning stayed in Teplice until his contract ran out. He did reach a major final that season, playing his part as Teplice went all the way to the Czech Cup final before losing to Sparta Prague.
Rather than sign elsewhere immediately, he took a free transfer to MFK Karviná in the summer of 2025, where he scored six goals in 19 appearances — a return sharp enough to draw fresh interest. In January 2026, Baník Ostrava paid a fee in the region of €800,000–€825,000 to bring him in, tying him down with a contract running to the end of December 2028.
