About the player
Ante Hrkać captains Velež Mostar, from Široki Brijeg through GOŠK Gabela, Branitelj, an Austrian spell at SVG Mayrhofen, Vitez and Segesta, before Lokomotiva Zagreb sent him out on loan to Lučko and then Čelik Zenica. From there the route ran through Teuta Durrës in Albania and a move to Saudi Arabia's Al-Qaisumah that drew controversy at the time.
He returned to Bosnia with Široki Brijeg, reaching the Bosnian Cup final in 2018–19, before a spell in Italy with Novara. Free transfers then took him to Mladost Lučani in Serbia and to Tuzla City, and in 2022 he joined Velež Mostar.
For the 2023–24 season, he was named to the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Best Team of the Season, an honour recognised both by SofaScore and by the Professional Footballers' Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Kristalnih 11 selection. He has made 94 league appearances for the club, scoring four goals.
Not everything has gone smoothly this season: Hrkać holds the unwanted record for the most red cards by a Velež player in 2025–26, having been sent off twice. He has not been capped at senior international level for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
