About the player
Djibril Guèye came through the Senegalese club game. Born in Ngor, he started out at Olympique de Ngor, then moved on to US Ouakam and later AS Douanes in Dakar before leaving Senegal altogether in August 2020.
That switch took him to Valmiera FC in Latvia. In 2022, Guèye won the Virslīga title with Valmiera, the club's first-ever league championship. The domestic cup proved more elusive: Valmiera reached the semi-finals in 2020 and 2021 and the quarter-finals in the three seasons that followed, but the trophy never came. He stayed with the club until December 2024, before joining FK Liepāja on a free transfer in January 2025.
On the international stage, Guèye earned two caps for Senegal in 2019 during qualification for the African Nations Championship, playing in both legs against Liberia — an away defeat followed by a home win days later. He has yet to score for the national side.
