About the player
Emiliano Denis started out at Bella Vista, where between 2009 and 2013 he was tied to the club's title in the Torneo Apertura de Segunda División without ever making an appearance in the first division side. The move that put him on a professional footing came in October 2013, when he signed for Fénix on a free transfer and made his debut for the club, staying there until 2020.
A short spell at Danubio followed, with seven appearances in the Primera División before he left in early 2021. He then joined Cerro, winning the Segunda División title in 2021 and going on to make 94 appearances for the club.
In July 2024 Denis moved abroad for the first time, joining Boyacá Chicó in Colombia's Primera A, where he has made 51 appearances and produced key saves against sides such as Atlético Nacional and Fortaleza. His time there has not been without tension: in November 2024 he criticised refereeing decisions after a 1-1 draw with Atlético Bucaramanga that ended his side's playoff hopes, and in April 2025 he and his Boyacá Chicó teammates denounced having received death threats from criminal groups.
Denis has not been capped by Uruguay's senior national team, though he was part of the under-23 set-up around 2014, a period in which he was linked with a move to FC Cartagena. His contract with Boyacá Chicó runs until August 2026.
