David Pereira da Costa

David Pereira da Costa left Almada for RC Lens as a boy, working through the club's youth ranks before his first-team debut arrived on 8 November 2020, a 4-4 draw against Stade de Reims. He went on to make 122 appearances for the French club, scoring 10 goals and featuring seven times in Champions League, Europa League and Conference League qualifying, adding a further goal along the way. David Pereira da Costa reached a Ligue 1 runners-up finish with Lens in the 2022/23 season, without ever collecting a league or cup title in France.

His move to Portland Timbers, confirmed on 17 February 2025 for a fee of €7m, brought the midfielder to Major League Soccer as a Designated Player on a contract running to the end of the 2028 season, with an option for 2029. He needed only until his second appearance to make an impression: on his debut against Austin FC on 1 March 2025, he scored in the 89th minute.

The Leagues Cup gave him further moments to remember, with a goal against Atlético de San Luis on 30 July 2025 and an assist against Club América three days later, before Portland's run continued into the MLS play-offs.

At youth international level, he represented Portugal across the U-18, U-19 and U-21 sides, totalling 11 appearances, one goal and four assists. His U-21 debut, on 4 June 2022 against Belarus, brought a goal of its own, struck in the 80th minute.
