About the player
Deniss Meļņiks left Latvia early in his development, spending two years in Torino's youth setup before returning home to break through at Spartaks Jūrmala, where he made his Virslīga debut in 2021 and went on to make close to 40 league appearances over two seasons. A winter move took him to FK Auda, interrupted by a loan spell at Riga FC in the summer of 2023, where he lifted the Latvian Cup that year as a squad member for the final.
Back at Auda from the following winter, Meļņiks established himself as a regular starter, scoring five times in 27 league appearances in 2024 and adding three more in 30 appearances in 2025. The 2025 campaign ended with another Latvian Cup triumph, Auda beating Riga FC 2–1 in the final.
His form for Auda earned a senior call-up to the Latvian national team, and he made his debut in September 2024 in a Nations League win over the Faroe Islands. He has since won further caps at senior level, building on years of representing Latvia through the youth ranks.
In June 2026, with his contract at Auda expired, Meļņiks signed a two-year deal with Falkirk, moving to the Scottish Premiership as a free agent.
