Edinson Manuel Mero Figueroa

Edinson Mero's route into professional football began in his home town of El Triunfo, where he came through the U-14, U-16 and U-18 categories before his first senior contract, with Atlético Saquisilí in Cotopaxi's second-category league in 2015. Two seasons at Grupo Alcívar followed, in Cañar's provincial second-category competition, where he made his debut in Ecuadorian federation tournaments.

The move to San Francisco in 2018 brought his first title, the Cañar second-category provincial championship, alongside an appearance in the Copa Ecuador. A year later, at Santa Rita, he stepped up to Serie B, Ecuador's second tier, and made 40 appearances and scored six goals over the spell, with a run in the Copa Ecuador as well. That form carried him to Atlético Porteño in 2020, where he continued in Serie B and was called into Ecuador's pre-Olympic under-23 squad, though no confirmed appearances for that side are on record.

Delfín Sporting Club, in Manta, gave Mero his first taste of Serie A football in 2022, along with a run in the Copa Sudamericana. The following year he crossed into Peruvian football with Sport Boys Association, setting up a goal on his debut against Unión Comercio.

Mero returned to Ecuador in 2024 to join Guayaquil City, and the timing proved decisive: the club won Serie B in 2025 and earned promotion. Now playing Serie A football with Guayaquil City in 2026, he has established himself as the team's top scorer of the current league campaign, with eight goals so far. Across his career, he has scored 120 goals in total. He has not featured for Ecuador's senior national team.
