Hallgrímur Mar Steingrímsson

In the summer of 2025 Hallgrímur Mar Steingrímsson scored his 100th goal for KA Akureyri. No one has scored more for the club, and no one has played more matches for it either — he is KA's all-time leader in both.

He started out in senior football at ÍF Völsungur, where he made 39 appearances and scored seven goals across two spells, in 2007–2008 and again in 2010.

The one departure came in February 2015, when he joined Víkingur Reykjavík. He played 18 matches and scored four goals before returning to KA a year later, in February 2016. He has stayed since; his contract runs to 2027.

The move to Reykjavík acquired a postscript on 21 September 2024, when KA beat Víkingur 2–0 in the final of the Mjólkurbikarinn — the club's first Icelandic Cup title in its history.

The 2025 season was the fullest of his career. He finished as KA's leading scorer with 16 goals in all competitions and was named in the Besta deild karla Team of the Year. The club made him its Sportsman of the Year, an award he had also taken in 2023.

The international call came late. Steingrímsson made his debut for Iceland on 26 February 2026 against Mexico — one cap so far, no goals.
