About the player
Ilya Kuptsov is a product of the FC Dynamo Moscow Academy named after Lev Yashin. Standing 198 cm tall, the Moscow-born goalkeeper is unusual in being comfortable with both feet. He came through Russia's youth setup, earning caps for the under-15, under-16 and under-17 sides, and played at the 2019 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, appearing in the match against Hungary.
At Dynamo-2 he built a solid record, keeping 13 clean sheets in 37 matches, and he was handed his first-team debut for Dynamo Moscow in the Russian Cup against Pari NN on 25 July 2023. To gain regular football he was loaned to Kamaz in the First League from September 2024 for the rest of that season.
In July 2025 Kuptsov left Dynamo permanently, joining Veles on a deal that included a buy-back option for his former club along with a sell-on percentage. His contract with Veles runs to the summer of 2027. Since arriving he has kept two clean sheets in nine First League appearances.
