Ivan Ordets

Ordets came through the Shakhtar Donetsk academy, joining the club's youth system in 2005 and working his way up through Shakhtar-3 before establishing himself with the senior side in 2009. He stayed at the club for a decade, interrupted only by two loan spells at Illichivets Mariupol. His time at Shakhtar brought a full trophy cabinet: three Ukrainian Premier League titles, four Ukrainian Cups and three Ukrainian Super Cups.

In June 2019 he left for Dynamo Moscow, a move that took him away from Ukrainian football for three years. His path back to it, and eventually to Germany, was shaped by circumstance rather than a conventional transfer: in July 2022 he joined VfL Bochum on loan under a special FIFA regulation introduced for Ukrainian players. That arrangement was extended through the following season before Bochum made the move permanent in the summer of 2024, tying him to the club until 2026.

At international level, Ordets made his debut for Ukraine in May 2014 against Niger and went on to earn twelve caps, scoring once, before his last appearance for the national side in March 2018.

Ordets plays as a right-footed defender and stands 195 cm tall.
