J. Gerold

Jayen Gerold came through Amsterdam football before he came through anywhere else. He started at AVV Zeeburgia, then moved into the AZ Alkmaar academy, where he worked his way up through the age groups and picked up two team honours along the way: the U18 KNVB Cup and, with the U19 side in the 2022/23 season, the UEFA Youth League, won with a 5–0 final victory over Hajduk Split in Geneva.

His step into senior football came with Jong AZ, Alkmaar's reserve side in the Eerste Divisie, where he made his debut in March 2023 and set up a goal in a 2–2 draw with Willem II. Over two seasons there he made 39 league appearances, scoring three goals and adding seven assists, with his first senior league goals arriving in a 3–2 defeat to Helmond Sport in October 2024.

In July 2025 Gerold left the Netherlands for Latvia, joining Auda as a free agent. He made 27 league appearances for the club and scoring twice.

Internationally, Gerold has represented Suriname, the country of his other nationality alongside his Dutch one, at youth level. He made three appearances for the Suriname U20 side in 2022 during CONCACAF U-20 Championship qualifying. He is most often deployed on the left wing.
