About the player
Josefin Johansson wears the number 4 shirt and captained the side for so long that she is regarded as a club legend. She joined the club in 2011 after a spell at Sunnanå SK, where she made 37 league appearances and scored three goals, and has since gone on to make over 260 league appearances for Piteå, scoring more than 28 goals along the way. In 2024 she passed 250 total appearances for the club.
In 2018 she stepped away for a maternity break, then returned to help Piteå IF win their first-ever Damallsvenskan title. Before her move into senior football, she came through Piteå's own youth ranks as well as spells at Assi IF and Umeå Södra FF.
Johansson made her senior international debut for Sweden on 8 February 2014 against France, and went on to earn nine caps between 2014 and 2017 without scoring. She was named in the Sweden squad for UEFA Women's Euro 2017, where she made one appearance as a substitute in the match against Denmark. Earlier in her career she progressed through Sweden's youth sides at U17, U19 and U23 level.
Primarily deployed in a defensive or central midfield role, she has also featured at centre-back when needed. Alongside her playing career, she has worked as a hairdresser.
