About the player
Josua Mejías began his career at Carabobo FC in Venezuela before moving to Spain, where CD Leganés signed him. He rarely settled at one club during his years there, going out on loan repeatedly: spells at Cartagena, Gimnàstic de Tarragona, Atlético Madrid B and Málaga each brought him into the twenties in league appearances, and a loan at Beitar Jerusalem in 2021–22 preceded a permanent move to the Israeli club the following August on a free transfer.
He left Beitar in July 2023 for Athens Kallithea FC, winning the Greek second-tier title in the 2023–24 season. That success preceded his move to Debreceni VSC in July 2025, again on a free transfer.
Mejías also has a Venezuela youth pedigree worth noting: he was part of the side that reached the final of the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He made his senior international debut on 7 October 2021, in a World Cup qualifier against Brazil.
