About the player
Ethnically Korean and born in Yanji, in China's Jilin Province, Jin Taiyan spent his formative years in the Liaoning F.C. academy before a loan spell at satellite side Panjin Mengzun in 2009 pushed him into senior football. He broke into the Liaoning Whowin first team in 2010 and stayed for six years, making over 140 appearances before Beijing Guoan signed him in January 2017 for a fee widely reported at around 25 million RMB.
His time in Beijing brought the biggest honour of his career: the 2018 Chinese FA Cup. He remained with the club for six years before returning to his home region in 2023, joining Yanbian Longding.
In April 2024, Yanbian Longding handed him an internal punishment over social media remarks about the club, and he issued a public apology afterwards. Jin has also featured for China at Under-23 level, though he has not gone on to earn senior caps for either China or South Korea.
