Karlen Hovhannisyan

Karlen Hovhannisyan came through the Pyunik Yerevan academy before working his way into the first team. He made his senior debut for Pyunik and was part of the squad that won the Armenian Premier League title.

His progress at the club was interrupted in July 2023, when he moved to BKMA Yerevan on loan to fulfil his mandatory military service. Hovhannisyan made the most of the opportunity, appearing regularly in the league and adding goals in cup competition. He returned to Pyunik in June 2025 and resumed his place in the first-team squad.

Hovhannisyan's form for Pyunik led to interest from abroad, and in September 2026 he moved to Akron Tolyatti in the Russian Premier League, signing a contract that runs until 2031.

He has represented Armenia at every youth level from under-16 through to under-21, scoring at both under-19 and under-21 level. That progression through the youth ranks culminated in a senior call-up, and Hovhannisyan made his debut for the Armenia national team on 29 March 2026, in a friendly against Belarus that ended in defeat. He has since featured in further friendlies for the national side.
