About the player
Kalifa Jatta came through the academy of BST Galaxy FC in Gambia before trials abroad took him to Sweden and Poland, with Degerfors IF, Brommapojkarna and Miedź Legnica all having a look before AC Oulu did.
The move to Finland began as a loan. In 2025 Jatta joined AC Oulu's reserve side, Oulun Luistinseura, still registered to BST Galaxy, and set about the Ykkönen with a directness the second tier had not seen from him before: 7 goals in 13-15 appearances, among them a strike in a 2-2 draw with KuPS Akatemia. One assist, occasionally two, rounded out a loan spell.
It did enough that Oulu exercised the buy option written into the deal, and in January 2026 the move to the first team was made permanent. Jatta went straight into the Veikkausliiga picture, making his debut for the senior side and finishing his first top-flight campaign with 12 appearances, a goal and an assist to his name.
He has not yet been capped by Gambia at senior level, though his form at OLS was enough to put him on the radar for youth national team screenings.
