Luis Fernando León Bermeo

Luis Fernando León spent most of his career being shaped rather than shaping headlines, and his most distinctive stretch may be the one still ahead of him: coming home. He started out in the Norte América academy before moving into Independiente del Valle's youth ranks, and it was at Del Valle that he built his game, breaking into the first team in 2012 and staying for seven years. Across that spell he made 215 appearances and scored 9 goals.

A move abroad followed in 2020, when León joined Mexican side Atlético San Luis. In 2023 he came back to Ecuadorian football again, this time on loan at Emelec, where he made 41 appearances and scored 3 goals.

At international level, León represented Ecuador's under-20 side in 2013 and has since made at least six appearances for the senior national team. He was named in an extended squad ahead of the 2022 World Cup but did not make the final selection. In 2024, he said publicly that playing for the national team was not currently a priority for him.
