Luiz Fragoso

Some players arrive at a first-team debut through years of patient waiting. Luiz Fragoso arrived through a shortcut: on 27 April 2025, aged 15 years and 20 days, he stepped onto the pitch for Emelec and became the youngest debutant in the history of Ecuador's Liga Pro.

Born in Riohacha, Colombia, Fragoso moved to Ecuador at the age of ten and joined Emelec's academy before that record-breaking first appearance. In March 2025, he was granted Ecuadorian nationality.

A year on from his debut, he added another marker to his name. On 25 April 2026, he scored his first senior goal, becoming the youngest player to find the net for Emelec in the club's history. By June 2026, he had made 22 appearances for the first team, with that single goal to his name so far.

Fragoso plays as a right winger or attacking midfielder. His path to the first team has been unusually direct: he moved from the academy straight into competitive senior matches while still a young teenager, with no transfer fees changing hands along the way.
