Milan Hofland

Milan Hofland's return to MVV Maastricht in 2026 marked a new chapter. He had come through the club's youth academy after arriving from Fortuna Sittard and signed his first senior contract in July 2023. His first-team debut came against Telstar in December 2024, and he went on to make four appearances that season. In May 2025, however, he left MVV after his father, Kevin Hofland, said publicly that the club had "no confidence" in him, describing Milan as too good for the U21s but not yet ready for the first team.

What followed was a season on the move. Hofland joined SV Meerssen before signing for Racing FC Union Luxembourg, where he became a regular starter. In July 2026 he returned to MVV Maastricht on a two-year contract, with an option for a third season. The timing was notable: his father Kevin Hofland had just been appointed assistant manager at MVV under head coach Andries Jonker, working on talent development.

Father and son had already crossed paths on the pitch before that. In October 2024, when Kevin was manager of Helmond Sport and MVV faced his side, he said he would feel pride as a father but disappointment as a manager if Milan scored the winning goal.

Hofland underwent open-heart surgery at the age of five, which left a scar but no lasting physical effects. Before his move to MVV's academy, he spent a year in Germany with Alemannia Aachen's youth setup, where his U19 side won the Mittelrheinliga.
