Tolu Arokodare

Nigerian by birth, Tolu Arokodare made his name in a league few would think to scout, running up 22 goals in 32 appearances for Valmiera in Latvia before a German loan spell at 1. FC Köln and a longer one in France with Amiens SC gave him a taste of higher-level football without yet a permanent move. That came on 1 January 2023, when KRC Genk paid Valmiera a reported €5 million for him and tied him to a four-and-a-half-year contract.

It was in Belgium that Arokodare established himself as a prolific scorer. Over two and a half seasons he scored 36 goals in 95 league games for Genk, and in 2024–25 he finished as the Belgian Pro League's top scorer with 20–21 goals, a return that earned him the Ebony Shoe as the division's best African player and a Goal of the Month award in October 2024. That form persuaded Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign him on 30 August 2025 for around £23.4 million, a four-year deal. He wore the number 14 shirt at Molineux before a loan move to AFC Ajax for the 2026–27 season, with the Dutch club holding an option to make the transfer permanent for €22 million.

His rise has not been confined to club football. Arokodare made his Nigeria debut on 21 March 2025 in a win over Rwanda, and scored his first international goal three months later in a friendly draw against Russia in Moscow. By November 2025 he had won ten caps for the Super Eagles.
