Will Evans

Before he was scoring against Premier League opposition, Will Evans was working on a farm and turning out for Llangedwyn in the fifth tier of Welsh football, having left Shrewsbury Town's academy behind. University football at Cardiff Metropolitan came next, followed by a move to Bala Town.

Newport County gave him that route. Evans joined in 2022 and, after his contract option was triggered in 2024, delivered his best season yet: 21 League Two goals in 2023–24 made him the club's top scorer, and supporters voted him their player of the season. He also produced one of the results of that campaign, scoring in a 4–2 FA Cup fourth-round win over Manchester United.

A move to Mansfield Town followed in August 2024. Evans scored 14 League One goals in his first season there and added nine more in 2025–26, including a goal against Arsenal in the FA Cup fifth round, in a match Mansfield lost 2–1. He was the first player from a club outside the top two divisions to score against Arsenal in the Cup since 2010–11.

He has also represented Wales C, scoring twice on his debut against England C in April 2022, though a call-up to the senior Welsh squad has not followed.

In August 2026, Evans signed a two-year contract with Plymouth Argyle, leaving Mansfield after two seasons. He switched from the number 11 shirt he wore at Mansfield to number 9 at his new club.
