The women's side has not run in an unbroken line since. It was disbanded in 1976, after player Jaroslava Strnadová was killed in a car crash on the way to a match, and České Budějovice went without women's handball until 2001, when the female squads of the dissolved TJ Vltava merged into Lokomotiva.
Since the 2001 restart the team has settled into the second-tier 1. liga žen, finishing third in the 2021/22 season. It plays at the Sportovní hala on Stromovka, which holds 2,500.
The one fixture that carries weight beyond the table is against HBC Strakonice 1921 , played out as the Jihočeské derby — the South Bohemian derby.
