Didcot Town

Loop Meadow sits on the edge of Didcot with room for 3,000, a few hundred of them seated, and it has only been home since 1999, when the club moved across from Station Road. The bigger crowd it ever drew there arrived on a First Round Saturday in 2015-16, 2,707 people watching a 0-3 defeat to Exeter City, a scoreline that mattered less than the fact of reaching that stage for the first time in the club's history.

The name people actually use for Didcot Town owes nothing to the shirts, which run blue and white. The Railwaymen comes from the town itself, built around its junction.

Stuart Peace took charge in 2006 and stayed five years, and a promotion to the Southern League Premier Division that came in 2009 through the play-offs. Relegation followed in 2011, and it took until 2023 for Didcot to work their way back up to that level. The Hellenic League title of 2005-06 is remembered for more than the trophy itself: it was the season the club became the first in that league to pass 100 points.

Oxford City and Thame United provide the fixtures still billed locally as the Oxfordshire derby. None of it, though, moves far from where the story starts each Saturday: back at the ground by the railway that gave the club its name.
