In the 2022/23 season the BT Füchse men's side reached the ÖHB Cup final for the first time in the merged club's history and ran into ALPLA HC Hard, going down 27:33. The name on the shirt was new; the history of reaching that stage was not. Back in 1993, HC Bruck, one of the two clubs that would later join to form BT Füchse, had already lifted that same cup, beating HC Linz AG.

The merger itself, in 2020, brought together HC Bruck and ATV Trofaiach with a specific aim: building a proper academy and youth structure for handball in Upper Styria.
