Gap

The club had won the French championship back to back in 1977 and 1978, then had to wait until 2015 to lift it again, beating Gamyo d'Épinal in the final. Two years later Gap took a fourth title, this time against Dragons de Rouen, having already beaten the same opponents to the Coupe de la Ligue in 2016.

Those decades without a Ligue Magnus title were not empty of silverware. Gap won the Coupe des As in 1986 and twice worked its way back up through the second tier, taking the Division 1 title in 1996 and again in 2009. A Coupe de France final followed in 2023, ending in defeat. The club has built its name as a training ground: forward Anthony Rech went on to collect the Albert Hassler trophy as the league's top forward in both 2015–16 and 2016–17, and goaltender Julian Junca added the Jean-Ferrand trophy in 2022–23.

Two derbies mark the calendar. Grenoble supplies the Derby Alpin, Briançon the Derby des Hautes-Alpes, both Alpine neighbours close enough for their supporters to travel in numbers. Gap itself sits high in the Hautes-Alpes, its team known as Les Rapaces, in blue and black, playing out of the Alp'Arena.
