Guiseley AFC

Seventh-tier football is where the Lions have spent the past four seasons, back in the Northern Premier League Premier Division after relegation in 2021–22, following the fall out of the National League in 2017–18.

That descent measures out against a climb that had taken Guiseley further than anyone at Nethermoor Park had gone before. The Northern Premier League title in 2009–10 carried them into Conference North, and five years later they won the play-off final there to reach the fifth tier for the first time.

What has outlasted the league position is the academy. The Young Lions sent Jacob Brown on to Stoke City and to the Scotland squad, and Josh Stones to Wigan Athletic — a supply line that keeps working regardless of which division the first team occupies. Bradford (Park Avenue) remains the closer of the two derbies.

The trophy that still sets the club apart came in 1990–91, when Guiseley beat Gresley Rovers 3–1 in a replay to win the FA Vase — the same season they took the Northern Counties East League Premier Division. The West Riding County Cup has come to Guiseley nine times.

Nethermoor Park holds 4,000, and the white shirt with blue sleeves has been the constant through all of it — from 1909, when a club took the name of a West Yorkshire town on the edge of Airedale and set about playing local football.
