Milton Keynes Irish went into promotion in 2024–25, taking the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division and stepping up to the Southern League Division One Central. It was the club's first title. Milton Keynes Robins, who had inherited Buckingham Town's place in the league after that club folded in 2019, joined with Unite MK, formerly Wolverton Town, and with Milton Keynes Irish Veterans, and the merger took effect on 1 June 2020.

The FA Vase gave the new club its earliest marker, a run to the Third Round in that first 2020–21 season.

Terry Shrieves took the manager's job with a playing record at Millwall and Woking behind him and spells in charge at Newport Pagnell and Milton Keynes City already served. Tom McEvanny, second-generation Irish and one of those who pushed the merger through in 2020, chairs the club he helped create.
