Mladost 1977

Bogdanci sits near the border with Greece. For a town that size, reaching the Second Yugoslav League counted as an event: Mladost got there by winning the Macedonian league in 1986, and held its place in that tier until 1989.

Its best run came after Yugoslavia, not during it. In the 1996–97 EHF Cup Winners' Cup, Mladost knocked out Morar Bar of Montenegro and Romania's Fibrexc to reach the quarter-finals, the first Macedonian club to get that far in Europe. That same year it went as close as it has come to a domestic trophy, losing the Macedonian Cup final to Pelistar. Later European entries — the Challenge Cup round of 16 in 2004–05, a second round in the EHF Cup in 2006–07 — never matched it.

Among the players who passed through, Mitko Stoilov stands out: a left back capped for Macedonia, he played for Mladost either side of a career that took in Zagreb and Vardar, leaving and returning to the club that developed him.

The club restructured as a joint-stock company in August 2020, taking the name Mladost 1977, and now plays in the second-tier Macedonian First League. Home games are played in front of at most 1,000 people at Sportska sala Mlaz, in navy and white. The closest thing it has to a derby is against RK Astraion of Strumica, the two clubs the standard-bearers of the southeastern corner of the country.
