Eight Campionato Primavera 1 titles sit at the top of Roma's youth honours, and the most recent of them, in 2015–16, arrived after a run stretching back to 1972–73 — a gap of more than four decades between the first and the eighth. The Coppa Italia Primavera has come to the club six times, most recently in 2022–23, and the Supercoppa Primavera three times, in 2012, 2016 and 2023.

The side traces back to 1927, when Roman FC, SS Alba-Audace and Fortitudo-Pro Roma SGS merged to form AS Roma, and the Primavera has since become the proving ground for players who went on to define the first team. Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi both came through it before becoming the club's defining captains, and the list of graduates since has run through Bruno Conti, Alessandro Florenzi and, more recently, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Davide Frattesi.

In the 2022–23 season the goals came mainly from Luca Pagano, who finished as top scorer with 14, with Claudio Cassano and Francesco Pisilli close behind. Continental competition has been less kind: the club's best run in the UEFA Youth League came in 2014–15, when it reached the semi-finals before losing to Chelsea.

Matches are played at the Stadio Tre Fontane, which holds 4,000. When the fixture list brings Lazio, the meeting keeps the name given to the senior sides' clashes across the city, the Derby della Capitale.
