Silsden

Silsden begin the 2025-26 season in the Northern Premier League Division One East, the highest tier the club has ever reached, after winning the Northern Counties East League Premier Division the previous spring. Kayle Price was central to that promotion, scoring 21 league goals, and manager Matt Cavanagh, in charge since the summer of 2022.

The cup run that came with it says something too. Silsden reached the Fourth Round Proper of the FA Vase in 2023-24, and a season later made their first appearance in the FA Cup's Preliminary Round in twenty years, beating Liversedge and Atherton Collieries before West Didsbury & Chorlton won the replay 4-2.

The club's history runs back further than its official founding date. It traces to 1883, when an Irish GP, Dr John Purcell, first put a team together, though the club counts its formal life from September 1904, when it re-formed as an FA-affiliated side and took over the Keighley Road ground of a rugby club that had folded. That continuity was tested in the 1980s, when money troubles and problems with the ground pushed Silsden into abeyance before they found their feet again.

Their strongest spell came in the early 2000s, when they took the West Riding County Challenge Cup in three straight seasons and paired it with the West Riding County Amateur League title, form that carried them into the North West Counties League by 2004. Thackley remain the fixture locals call the derby.
