That side began in 1868, when Reverend Morgan Lloyd founded Leyton F.C., and the name has shifted with the decades since — Leyton Swifts, Leyton & Wingate, Leyton Pennant, Waltham Forest — before the club settled on Walthamstow FC in 2018. Billy Barnes came through that original 1868 side, went on to play for Sheffield United and later managed Athletic Bilbao. More recently, former Arsenal striker Jérémie Aliadière has coached in the club's youth academy as a volunteer.
Cup runs have added the Essex Senior Cup and, twice, the Spartan League Cup.
Through all the name changes, the club still traces itself back to the same starting point — a team founded by a clergyman in 1868, playing under the name Leyton F.C.
