Batman Yeni Şehir Stadyumu
Batman, Turkey
Formerly: Batman Arena, Batman Stadyumu
Three days after it opened, the ground made the wrong sort of news. On 30 October 2018 a Ziraat Türkiye Kupası tie against Kasımpaşa was abandoned when a plastic water bottle thrown from the stands struck the Kasımpaşa player Koita and fractured his cheekbone. The first, on 27 October 2018, had gone to plan: Batman Petrolspor beat Büyükçekmece Tepecikspor 2-0.
The stadium had been four years in the building by then, work having started in 2014 at a cost of around 100 million Turkish lira. Şah Group supplied the floodlighting and the steel that carries the stands.
It sits in Site Mahallesi, out on the newer side of Batman Merkez, and the name says as much — Yeni Şehir, the new town. Mapping services and much of the press still call it Batman Arena or simply Batman Stadyumu; neither is official, and neither belongs to a sponsor.
Batman Petrolspor play here, and in the 2025/26 season they have filled it. A fixture against Kastamonuspor drew close to 14,000, and the evening kick-offs have been reported at the full 15,000. On a ground built for a city of this size, that is the figure that matters.
