It is a modest affair, the sort of ground that exists without apology.
While it was originally built by the Meidericher Spielverein in 1921 to hold crowds of 24,000, the scale has shrunk to fit its present role. The first team moved to the Wedaustadion in 1963, leaving this complex to become a district sports facility. It now serves the youth teams and reserve squads of MSV Duisburg, a far cry from its days in the Oberliga West.
The surface is natural grass, kept in reasonable order despite the wear of regular matches.
