BioCirc Arena

BioCirc Arena sits in Viborg, Denmark. When it opened as Viborg Stadionhal in 1997, it replaced an older hall that had become too small for the club’s needs. The initial setup held around 2,200 people.

The arena underwent a significant expansion in 2002, a move designed to improve infrastructure for elite play. This work brought the capacity to roughly 2,700, though the current official figure is often cited as 2,865. Some sources suggest a maximum capacity closer to 3,000, a discrepancy that remains unclarified. The playing surface is standard indoor parquet.

Commercial life has reshaped the building’s identity over the years. For two decades it was simply Viborg Stadionhal. In 2017, a sponsorship deal with Vibocold changed the name to Vibocold Arena Viborg, a title that lasted until April 2023. The current name, BioCirc Arena, reflects a newer partnership with a green energy firm.

Inside, the atmosphere has shifted from local matches to continental stages. Viborg HK won the EHF Women’s Champions League titles in 2006, 2009, and 2010, bringing major European nights to this specific venue. The highest recorded attendance stands at 9,987 spectators during a championship final in 2007, a number that defies the arena’s stated seating limits and suggests a temporary configuration rather than a permanent one. Today, it remains a dedicated space for handball and occasional fights.
