Borås Ishall

Borås Ishall has never had a name change. It opened as Borås Ishall in 1972 and remains that way, though supporters call it Lejonkulan, The Lion Ball, after the emblem the local hockey club adopted in the 1990s. It sits on Armbågavägen 6, near the city centre and close to Borås Arena, which handles the football matches. The arena has not been replaced as the home for Borås Hockey.

The playing surface is artificial ice, kept cold by a mechanical refrigeration system. 1,284 of the seats warm themselves. The original hall was later expanded to include an A-hall and a B-hall, giving youth teams more ice time, though the exact dates of those additions are not recorded.

The capacity varies by source, ranging from around 3,000 to 3,949 spectators. The arena hosts regular hockey matches and also takes part in SM-veckan, the Swedish Sports Festival, when cheerleading, arm wrestling, fencing and cycling trials fill the space. Youth tournaments like the Nordic Lion Trophy U16 cup are held here as well.

The construction was managed by Wäst Bygg AB, with UBAB supplying the concrete elements, but the architect is not identified in available records. The all-time attendance record for a single match cannot be found.
