Before 2009, the ground answered only to the town: Sportpark Schoonenberg . What followed reads less like history and more like a ledger of sponsorship deals — Telstar Stadion, Rabobank IJmond Stadion, 711 Stadion, and now BUKO Stadion again, while the club that actually plays there, SC Telstar, kept its own name through all of it.
The rebuilding came in pieces rather than one grand plan. The east side gave up its standing terrace for seats in 1999. A decade later the west stand went up new, designed by Zwarts en Jansma Architecten, adding two thousand seats. The south side got its own standing section the year after, and a media box arrived on the east in 2012.
