Busch Stadium
St. Louis, United States
What you see now arrived on April 4, 2006, with minor league exhibition games, followed by the first Major League Baseball match on April 10. The architects HOK Sport and Kennedy Associates designed the place, while Hunt/Kwame and Clayco Corp. managed the build.
The surface is natural Bermuda grass, which the Cardinals have used since the opening. The capacity has shifted over the years: it opened with 43,975 seats, increased to 45,399 in 2014, peaked at 45,538 in 2016, and settled at 44,383 by 2020. For concerts the number can reach 47,000, with a record of 52,273 for U2’s 360° Tour. The ground has also hosted the 2017 NHL Winter Classic, where 46,556 saw the St. Louis Blues play, and a soccer match between Chelsea and Manchester City drew 48,263.
