Nothing about this ground says football stadium in an ordinary sense — the name belongs to a hospital. CHI Memorial Hospital bought the naming rights in a sponsorship deal struck in March 2020, weeks before the place hosted its first match.
That first match, on 1 August 2020, came later than planned. A groundbreaking had taken place the previous July, and the opening was pencilled in for that April, but the pandemic pushed it back four months. Chattanooga Red Wolves SC hosted FC Tucson to christen it.
The surface has already changed once. Artificial turf carried the ground through its early years before a switch to natural grass in May 2023.
East Ridge itself sits just outside Chattanooga, and the address on Stadium Way gives no hint of the Tennessee suburb it actually occupies. Chattanooga Red Wolves SC have called it home since the opening, playing on turf that has now been natural grass for longer than it was artificial.
