Design The outfield wall itself is a blue barrier lined with advertisements, and the scoreboard towers above it, carrying player statistics and team logos. The main entrance area is paved, and you will find the red tomato sculpture there, marking the home of the New York Mets.

People gather in front of the building before the gates open. They walk across the plaza, some carrying bags, others just stretching their legs. The stadium sits next to Shea Stadium, but the old ground is gone now. The new one took its place in 2009, and the capacity was pushed up to 41,922 after the changes were made.

The venue has hosted football as well as baseball. New York City FC and NJ/NY Gotham FC have played their matches here, though the layout is clearly built for baseball. The attendance record sits at 45,186, a figure reached during the 2013 MLB All-Star Game. The highest regular-season crowd came on April 13, 2015, when the Mets opened against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The atmosphere changes depending on the game. A baseball match brings a different kind of noise than a football match, and the stadium adjusts its shape for each. The stands fill up quickly, and the sight of so many people in the same space is something you notice from the outside. The stadium does not have a history of name changes; it opened as Citi Field and has kept that name since.
