CorpAcq Stadium
Barton-upon-Irwell, United Kingdom
Formerly: Salford City Stadium, AJ Bell Stadium, Salford Community Stadium
The CorpAcq Stadium in Barton-upon-Irwell was not built for football. It is a dual-use arena, and the design reflects that.
The ground opened in 2012 after the original developer collapsed. Salford Red Devils moved in that year, and Sale Sharks followed in 2012–13. The rugby union side plays in the Gallagher Premiership, while the league side competes in the Super League. The highest attendance for a rugby union match was 11,247 in December 2014; the league record is 10,867 from a playoff in September 2024. The capacity sits at 11,404, though the original design allowed for more.
The stadium hosted the 2016 World Rugby Under 20 Championship Final and Women's Rugby World Cup pool matches in 2025. An England women's football match against the Netherlands took place in June 2012, and the Grandslam 2018 concert brought Simple Minds and The Pretenders to the site. The council acquired the venue fully in 2024. A redevelopment plan for the surrounding land was announced in 2024–2025, but the structure itself has remained untouched. The pitch is natural grass.
