Dodger Stadium does not announce itself with a new name. It has never had an official sponsored name change, though the field is now officially called “Uniqlo Field at Dodger Stadium” as of 2026. The ground has long been nicknamed “Chavez Ravine Stadium,” a title that stuck because the location sits in the Elysian Park neighbourhood of Los Angeles, specifically within Chavez Ravine. It opened on April 10, 1962, and was designed by the architectural firm Praeger-Kavanagh-Waterbury with structural engineering by William Simpson & Associates Inc.

The playing surface is natural grass, specifically Santa Ana Bermuda grass. The official capacity is 56,000, making it the largest active baseball stadium in Major League Baseball by seat capacity. While the certified capacity remains 56,000, renovations have altered the physical seat inventory, converting standard rows into premium seating. The record single-game attendance is 57,098, set on April 13, 2009, during the home opener against the San Francisco Giants, where Orlando Hudson hit for the cycle.

Major renovations occurred between 2012 and 2017 under the oversight of Janet Marie Smith, including new clubhouses and expanded concourses. A $100 million renovation completed in 2020 added a new center field plaza and “front door,” designed by D’Agostino Izzo Quirk, Levin & Associates, and Studio-MLA. The venue hosted the 2014 NHL Stadium Series between the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks.

It has hosted the World Series twelve times, the MLB All-Star Game in 1980 and 2022, and the World Baseball Classic semifinals and finals in 2009 and 2017. During 2020–2021, it served as a major COVID-19 testing and vaccination site. It also hosted a soccer tournament in 2013 featuring Real Madrid, Juventus, Everton, and the LA Galaxy.
