Braunschweig's ground carries its year the way older German stadiums often do, straight in the name — no sponsor has ever renamed the Eintracht-Stadion . It opened on 17 June 1923, and by the time the Bundesliga arrived in 1963 the club had pushed capacity up to around 40,000.

What followed was a slow contraction rather than a single rebuild. A 1995 renovation brought the number down to roughly 25,000, and a longer overhaul, carried out in two phases between 2009 and 2013 under Schulitz + Partner Architekten, reshaped the stands again.
