Elverum Stadion

The ground sits beside the Glomma, tucked into the flat centre of Elverum. You find it at Olav Schulstads veg 25. Elverum Stadion was built by Elverum Idrettslag, the multi-sport club that began in 1892, and the pitch opened in 1950. It belongs to the municipality.

The surface has not changed since the artificial turf replaced the grass in 2006 or 2007, depending on which source you trust. Before that work, the ground held more than twice the current number of spectators. The record still stands at 4,633, set on 1 September 1991 when Elverum played Ham-Kam in the 1. divisjon. Even if the current capacity varies between 1,400 and 2,500.

The stadium is not a monument. The club’s own website lists the old attendance figure without comment, and the town has never bothered to give the ground a sponsor’s name. Sentralidrettsplassen remains the name locals use when they talk about where the football team plays, but the official sign at the entrance says Elverum Stadion.
