Estadio Carlos Fonseca Amador

Matagalpa's ground carries the name of Carlos Fonseca Amador, but for years it was simply the Estadio Municipal, and that plainer past still shows in the size of the place: a ground built for a town crowd, not a national one. 1,800 seats is closer to a district final than a first-division fixture, and nothing about the stadium pretends otherwise.

What has changed is the light. In 2021 the ground reopened after work that fitted it with floodlights and marked the moment with a formal ceremony, the kind of upgrade that matters more to a small-capacity stadium than any expansion of seating would. Night football was not something this pitch could host before; now it can, and that alone resets how the ground gets used through the week rather than just on weekend afternoons.

The playing surface remains natural grass, kept to the same standard as the rest of the country's provincial grounds. No fixed tenant is tied to the stadium, so it functions as Matagalpa's shared pitch rather than one club's fortress, available to whoever the city's football calendar calls on.
