Estadio Ingeniero Raúl Goyenola
Tacuarembó, Uruguay
Formerly: Estadio 18 de Julio
The ground belongs to the municipality of Такуарембо. That arrangement, with the town holding the deed and Такуарембо Футбол Клуб holding the keys, is older than the tenant: the club that now fills it was founded in 1999. The pitch is natural grass, and it has drawn attention for that.
Twelve thousand is the figure that gets quoted for capacity, which in a city the size of Такуарембо is the point rather than the footnote. How many were actually inside is not recorded anywhere public, and neither is any attendance record.
Even the address resists pinning down. The stadium sits on Elías Abdo, near the Plaza de Deportes at the crossing of Avenida General Manuel Oribe and Calle Concejal Catalogne, in the Barrio Mullin–Diego Lamas area — but no street number attaches to it.
The name has been through versions too. It appears as Estadio Goyenola and as Raúl Saturnino Goyenola. Construction began with the foundation laid on 1 May 1954 and took a year.
