Estádio João Cardoso

The ground opened as Campo do Pereiro in 1933, and kept that name for fifty-seven years, until December 1990, when the club renamed it after João Cardoso, the man who had handed over the land.

When CD Tondela reached the second division in the mid-1990s, the pitch was relaid and a side terrace reclaimed, with a new stand put up behind one goal. The next round of work ran from 2005 to its official opening in 2008: dressing rooms, floodlight pylons, all-seater stands, and a capacity of 2,674. Then promotion to the top flight arrived, and in July 2015 roughly two million euros doubled the ground to 5,000 seats in a single summer.

On 11 March 2017, against Sporting, 4,987 people got in — thirteen short of the building — and watched Tondela lose 1-4.

The pitch is natural grass and has been replaced more than once, most recently in October 2025. Between league fixtures the ground has taken Portugal's youth sides — U16, U18, U20, U21 — and the women's national team, plus the Taça AF Viseu final in 2015-16.

In March 2026 things came to a head off the pitch: head coach Cristiano Bacci assaulted club president Gilberto Coimbra and was dismissed.
