Estadio José Alberto Pérez
Valera, Venezuela
Formerly: Estadio Luis Loreto Lira
The nickname arrived from outside: Cementerio de los Grandes , the cemetery of the giants. It attached itself to the ground during the 2016 Copa Libertadores. The stadium hosted matches against River Plate, who left with a 4–0 win, and against The Strongest.
Trujillanos Fútbol Club had climbed back into the top flight, and the ground was restored to receive them: roughly 37.5 million bolívares spent on new dressing rooms, a VIP lounge and rehabilitation of the playing surface. It was the second such intervention within a decade — the National Institute of Sports and the Trujillo state government had already overhauled the stadium in 2005.
The women's side Flor de Patria Fútbol Club also plays here. The grass is ringed by a synthetic athletics track, in the district Valera knows as La Ganadera.
