Estadio Municipal de Puntarenas Miguel Ángel "Lito" Pérez Treacy

The nickname does the explaining here: locally the ground is "La Olla Mágica" — the magic pot — and once the Gulf breeze gets in over the low stands, the noise has nowhere to go but back down onto the pitch. That's the thing visiting sides in Puntarenas complain about more than the pitch itself.

It opened in 1958 as the plain Estadio Municipal de Puntarenas, and stayed that way for sixteen years before the city renamed it for Miguel Ángel "Lito" Pérez Treacy in 1974 — a dedication, not a rebuild. There has been no second renaming since, no redevelopment that erased the old name the way it happens elsewhere.

The municipality owns it outright, which is why three clubs from three different divisions share the same natural turf without any of them holding priority: Puntarenas F.C. in the top flight, Marineros de Puntarenas in the second tier, and Puntarenas San Luis F.C. in the third. Few grounds in the country carry that stacked a fixture list across the pyramid.

Set in Barrio del Carmen on Avenida Centenario, close enough to the port that the sea air is part of the experience rather than a detail for the matchday programme.
