Estadio Municipal de San Pedro

The nickname came first and stuck: El Gallinero , the henhouse.

The ground sits in the casco urbano , the built-up centre of the municipality rather than out on the edge of town where newer Guatemalan pitches tend to go.

For most of its life the playing surface was bare earth. That changed in 2016 , when the municipality laid synthetic turf during a refurbishment — the single change that separates the ground now from the ground a generation of players in Sampedrano remember.

What the ground offers is a synthetic surface in the middle of town, walking distance from the houses whose teams play on it.
