Estadio Municipal Keylor Navas Gamboa
San Isidro de El General, Costa Rica
Formerly: Estadio Municipal Pérez Zeledón, Estadio Municipal Otto Ureña Fallas
The ground carries two names at once. In 2014 the municipality of Pérez Zeledón renamed it after Keylor Navas , the Costa Rica goalkeeper. The renaming was therefore challenged as unlawful, and the older title — Estadio Municipal Otto Ureña Fallas , in use since the ground opened in 1953 — still turns up in official registers alongside the newer one.
Tenancy is easier to date. A.D. Municipal Pérez Zeledón reached the Costa Rican first division in 1991 and has played here since; before and around that, AS Puma Generaleña also used the pitch as a home. The national team has never staged an official match at the ground.
The most recent break in that occupancy came from the weather. Work to lay the synthetic surface stalled when rain held up the contractors, and while it did, the club played its home fixtures in Alajuela. The new turf was finished in the early part of 2019 and the team returned. The floodlights had been renewed two years earlier, in 2017.
The ground stands on Avenida González, in San Isidro de El General, the cantonal seat in the province of San José.
